Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. seeks a reliable General Plant Laborer to support our North Carolina production facility. You will operate machinery, assist with lab sampling, and perform routine plant duties to maintain smooth processing lines.

Responsibilities include forklift operation, equipment maintenance, cleaning, and supporting production teams. The role may require night and weekend work, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Willing to work nights and weekends as needed.
• Prior manufacturing/industrial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• General plant labor and assisting in production.
• Operate forklift and move materials as needed.
• Use lab equipment to take samples and perform tests on products.
• Monitor temperatures and oversee rotator operations.
• Handle fresh and frozen meat sampling as required.
• Unload raw products and load finished products.
• Operate Plate Freezer and Stretch Wrapper.
• Perform housekeeping, cleaning, and waste disposal.
• Clean equipment and keep work areas sanitary.

General plant labor, including operating machinery, forklift operation, lab sampling, grinder operation, rotator and slurry meat operation, housekeeping, cleaning, painting, grounds, and general housekeeping in all areas of the plant.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• General plant labor.
• Utilize and operate a forklift
• Utilize lab equipment to take samples and perform tests on products
• Temperature monitoring of product and rotator operation
• Fresh meat sampling/Frozen meat sampling
• Raw product unloading
• Finished product loading
• Plate Freezer Operation
• Inventory counts
• Stretch Wrapper Operation
• Pressure Washer Operation
• Housekeeping, hosing down floors, moping, sweeping, emptying trash, picking up trash, etc.
• Shovel and clean up spills in the plant.
• Keep barrels emptied of trash and products.
• Clean equipment from top to bottom.
• Help unstop screw conveyors.
• Cut plastic and product off of screw.
• Keep floor drains cleaned out and covers on drains.
• Paint as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age
• High School diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience preferred.
• Prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment preferred.
• Works well with other in a team environment
• Dependable; reliable; ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.
