Job description

As a Cook II at Mason Street you will be responsible for the quality control of items prepared.

Mason Street Grill in downtown Milwaukee has become a local favorite for delicious steak, hand-crafted cocktails, and jazz music. In addition to great food and drinks - we also have exceptional service you can't find anywhere else. At Mason Street, we want to serve experiences. Whether it's the upbeat aromas, the background sounds of live music, or the taste of a refreshing cocktail after a long day at work, we want to make sure that our guests' time spent with us will bring them back again and again.

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare station-specific food items according to recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Monitor product storage, portion sizes, and special items like stocks and sauces.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas to meet Health Department regulations.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, sanitized, and operational.
  • Uphold high standards of food production and presentation.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Manage station setup, breakdown, and prep work.
  • Follow recipe specifications for all food preparation.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous cooking experience required, 1-2 years in a similar position preferred, Culinary or Apprenticeship program preferred.
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use all kitchen equipment, i.e., knives, spoons, spatulas, tongs, slicers, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull weights up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, work in a confined space with high levels of noise and frequent interruptions, and perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
  • Ability to obtain any local, state or federal license or certification for sanitation, liquor service, or food service certification.
