Job summary

1898 & Co., a part of Burns & McDonnell, is seeking a Consultant – Grid Systems to perform hands-on technical consulting and system integration in electric utility OT environments. You will configure, test, and implement grid management systems and support modernization across distribution and grid operations programs.

The role focuses on engineering-grade workflows, including SCADA, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS, with emphasis on data validation, testing, and go-live support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, CS, engineering, or related field with 3 years experience.

Responsibilities

• Execute technical consulting and system integration activities for grid and OT platforms.
• Configure, test, and support deployment of grid management systems like SCADA, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS.
• Implement and validate advanced distribution applications including power flow, state estimation, FLISR, VVO, and DER integration.
• Perform system configuration, parameter tuning, and data validation.
• Analyze OT system data and workflows to identify issues and support optimization.
• Conduct system testing, commissioning, cutover, and post-deployment support.
• Develop configuration guides, test scripts, interface docs, and operation materials.
• Participate in requirements definition and technical workshops.
• Support integration between OT systems and enterprise platforms.
• Provide root cause analysis and troubleshooting for grid apps.
• Own technical tasks, track progress, communicate risks to seniors.
• Contribute to proposals with solution descriptions and scope.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, cybersecurity, and PMs to align with standards.
• Comply with policies, safety and quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
