Job summary

Emerald AI is seeking a Member of Technical Staff to join the Grid Services team in Washington, DC. You will develop systems that connect Emerald Conductor to the electric grid, enabling data centers to participate in wholesale markets and demand response programs.

You will translate complex market rules into reliable production software, design the architecture, and own major technical decisions alongside control systems and AI infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering in production systems
• Strong experience designing reliable distributed software
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience building data pipelines and large-scale datasets
• Proficiency in SQL and modern data engineering practices
• Experience in electric utilities, ISOs/RTOs, or energy markets
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in CS, EE, or related field

Responsibilities

• Design and build software integrations with ISOs/RTOs, utilities, aggregators, and demand response platforms
• Develop optimization and control algorithms for dispatch of data center resources
• Build forecasting models for electricity demand, data center load, prices, and grid conditions
• Translate market rules into operational software with M&V, settlement, and compliance
• Build data pipelines ingesting real-time operational and market data
• Own services from design through deployment, monitoring, and operation
