Job summary

Black Hills Energy is seeking an Electrical Distribution Planning Engineer in Cheyenne, WY to support short- and long-range studies, update models, and provide field support for distribution planning and DER interconnections.

The role uses Synergi Electric, CYME, Windmil, and ASPEN to analyze reliability and capacity, and to coordinate protection settings with Operations. A Bachelor's in Engineering is required, with 1+ year to 7+ years of related experience depending on level.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience related to electrical distribution planning and/or electrical operations support and familiarity related to distribution planning software (Synergi Electric, CYME, Windmil, ASPEN) required.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required. minimum 7 years of experience related to electrical distribution planning and/or electrical operations support; 3 years with distribution planning software.

Responsibilities

Support reliability, operations, and future planning of electric distribution systems (less than 25 kV).
Develop short- and long-term planning for reliability and capacity expansion; propose system improvements.
Coordinate line protection devices and assist with setting distribution feeder breakers.
Provide DER analyses and proposals; respond with engineering rationale to operations questions.
Perform circuit analysis reviews for loading, voltage, and protection coordination.
