Job summary

1898 & Co. in Wallingford, CT is seeking an Assistant Electrical Engineer (or Energy & Utilities Analyst) to assist with power system studies in grid modernization and distribution planning for energy clients.

You will work under supervision on life-cycle cost analyses, regulatory assessments, and technical reports while supporting both fossil and renewable generation projects. This role offers exposure to a broad range of utility planning activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree; ABET accreditation preferred.
• Basic knowledge in standard engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• GPA 3.0 or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and interprets engineering, financial, and economic concepts for client projects.
• Applies basic engineering and financial concepts within consulting services.
• Assists with life-cycle cost analyses and economic forecasting.
• Assists with regulatory-impacts assessments for projects.
• Assists with designing and reviewing drawings as requested by project managers.
• Supports power system planning and operations analysis (power flow, stability, reliability, etc.).
• Performs technical, engineering, and financial studies for utility projects.
• Supports transmission/distribution study analysis using power system software.
• Supports fossil and renewable generation assessments.
• Assists with risk assessments and financial analyses using software.
• Prepares technical reports and client presentations; supports contract administration.
