Job summary

Placements24 seeks an Energy Systems Analyst to support modernization and resilience of energy grids in Welkom, Free State. You will collect, analyze, and interpret complex energy data to provide actionable insights for clients, focusing on integrating renewables and improving system reliability.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in power systems, 3–5 years of experience, and proficiency in Excel, Python, and MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with focus on power systems.
• 3–5 years of experience in energy systems analysis, power system planning, or grid Operations.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Python, MATLAB).
• Familiarity with power system simulation software (PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory) is a strong plus.
• Understanding of renewable energy technologies and their integration into power grids.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed analysis of energy systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
• Model and simulate power system behavior under various scenarios, including integration of renewables.
• Evaluate performance, reliability, and efficiency of existing grid infrastructure.
• Develop technical reports and presentations to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders.
• Assist in planning and design of grid modernization projects.
• Analyze energy market trends and regulatory changes impacting grid operations.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility of proposed solutions.
• Gather and manage data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in grid modernization and energy systems analysis.
