Job summary

The Patriot Golf Club of Owasso is seeking Greensmen to perform daily hands-on labor on the golf course. Typical hours are 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, 40 hours per week, with alternating early Saturdays and Sundays. Winter times shift earlier; overtime may occur in hot months.

Responsibilities include grooming bunkers, mowing, edging, weed control, sod work, and assisting with tree/shrub removal. Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds, work outdoors in all weather, and follow directions.

Qualifications

• Ability to bend and crouch repeatedly; work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, ice and snow
• Must be able to follow oral directions

Responsibilities

• Hand raking, redistribution of sand with a shovel, and edging of bunkers
• Edging cart paths with a mechanical edger
• Edging of irrigation heads, drainage inlets and valve boxes with a hand tool
• Hand picking of weeds within turfgrass areas
• Raking/blowing leaves and other organic litter from various areas
• Working in groups handling and laying new sod
• Removal of dead or unwanted trees and shrubs; loading into vehicles
• Weedeating, trimming and brush blading creeks, ponds and rock features
• Redistribution of mulch on access paths throughout property
• Mowing of Putting Greens and Collars; tees, approaches and roughs
• Mowing native areas with tractor and brush hog
• Stone work on mulch path edges
• General duties may be added by Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendents

Reporting Relationship: Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents

Classification: Full Time, Hourly

Requirements: Ability to follow oral directions, ability to walk or stand for several hours at a time, ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly,ability to bend and crouch repeatedly, ability to work in the outdoor elements including heat, cold, rain, ice and snow.

Position Summary:Greensmen are responsible for the majority of the hands on labor tasks on the golf course on a daily basis. Typically, this position works 40 hours per week from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, alternating off every other Thursday and every other weekend (6:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturdays and Sundays). During the winter months, the start and stop times are moved forward by one half hour. During the summer months some overtime should be expected due to the extreme environmental conditions that are normal during this time of year.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Hand raking, redistribution of sand with a shovel, and edging of bunkers.
• Edging cart paths with a mechanical edger.
• Edging of irrigation heads, drainage inlets and valve boxes with a hand tool.
• Hand picking of weeds within turfgrass areas.
• Raking/blowing of leaves and other types of organic litter from various areas within property.
• Working in groups handling and laying new sod.
• Aiding in the removal of dead or unwanted trees and shrubs. Physically handling the material and loading into utility vehicles.
• Weedeating, trimming and brush blading creeks, ponds and rock features on property.
• Redistribution of mulch on access paths throughout property.
• Mowing of Putting Greens and Collars.
• Mowing operations on Tees and Approaches with a Triplex Mower and a 26" Walk Mower
• Mowing operations on Practice Tees. Mowing of Fairway Intermediates and Rough.
• Mowing operations of Native Areas using a Tractor and Brush hog.
• Stone work on mulch path edges.
