Job summary

Recreation Centers of Sun City West is seeking an entry-level Grounds Maintenance worker to support all golf courses in Sun City West, AZ 85375. The position is Full-Time/Part-Time, pays $17.07 per hour, and includes a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities include mowing fairways, greens, tees, and roughs; weed abatement; planting and trimming; irrigation repair assistance; and equipment operation. Applicants must have one year of landscape or golf course maintenance experience, English

Qualifications

• One-year related landscape and/or golf course maintenance experience
• Ability to follow instructions where there are several processes
• Ability to verbally communicate business and safety information in English with customers, co-workers, supervisors, or others whose primary language is English.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of golf course including mowing fairways, greens, tees, and roughs, raking and edging traps, and weed abatement.
• Perform and assist in gardening duties including planting and trimming trees and flowers.
• Maintain tee boxes and greens; change cups and move tee markers.
• Maintain turf including aerification and overseeding, application of chemicals according to manufacturers specifications.
• Operate, clean and maintain pneumatic devices and hand tools, light equipment, company vehicles, and tractors.
• Assist in repair and installation of irrigation equipment and systems.
• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, overtime, and possible short-notice changes.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality according to policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintenance and upkeep of assigned golf course to include mowing fairways, greens, tees, and roughs, raking and edging traps, and weed abatement.
• Perform and assist in gardening duties which may include planting and trimming trees and flowers.
• Maintain tee boxes and greens; change cups and move tee markers.
• Maintain turf to include annual aerification and overseeding, application of chemicals in accordance with manufacturers specifications.
• Operation, cleaning and maintenance of pneumatic devices and hand tools, light equipment, company provided trucks and tractors in the field and in the pro and maintenance shops.
• Assists in the repair and installation of irrigation equipment and systems.
• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule to include weekend work, holidays, overtime hours and in some cases schedule changes on short notice.
• Maintains consistent record of acceptable attendance and punctuality according to policy guidelines.

Sufficient Training and education to demonstrate possession of required knowledge, skills and qualifications are required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Maintain both a valid Arizona driver's license and clear driving record for insurance purposes.

The employee is required to drive certain types of equipment to include utility carts and riding mowers. Use equipment such as grass rakes, grass blowers, hedge trimmers and walk behind mowers.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds or more with assistance.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
