Job summary

City of Amarillo seeks a Greenskeeper I for Golf Ross Rogers Golf Complex. This full-time role performs semi-skilled golf course maintenance tasks, operates mowing equipment, and handles routine groundskeeping duties. Shifts include evenings, weekends, and holidays; weather emergencies may require work.

Starting pay is $15.00 per hour. The employee must be able to work in conditions with heavy equipment and comply with safety rules as weather essential personnel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 2 years related experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
• Ability to operate and repair mowing and related equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Mows greens, fairways, tees, fringes and roughs.
• Services ball washers and changes cups on greens.
• Assists in course improvement projects and cleans restrooms.
• Trims trees, mows with push mower, waters trees and spots watering.
• Spreads fertilizer, rakes bunkers, prepares and lays sod.

This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as well as overtime as needed by the department. This position will be required to work during inclement weather and is considered weather essential personnel.**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES*** Mows greens, fairways, tees, fringes and roughs* Services ball washers.* Changes cups on greens.* Cleans restrooms.* Performs touch-up painting as needed.* Picks up trash.* Trims trees.* Plants grass.* Mows various areas of the greens with push mower.* Water trees.* Spot watering golf course (hand & radio).* Spreads fertilizer.* Rakes & details bunkers.* Prepping & laying sod.* Weed eating.* Edging.* Brush clean-up.* Assist in course improvement projects.* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of two years of related experience. Valid Texas Driver’s License required.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*** Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power and hand tools, shovels, mops, wrenches and brooms.* Ability to operate and repair medium equipment and machinery, such as tools a pick-up, tractor, hydraulic mowing equipment such as greensmower, fringe and tee mowers, fairway units, etc.* Strong verbal and written communication skills.**ADA PROFILE**Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
