Job summary

City of Rock Island is seeking a Greenskeeper I to assist with basic maintenance of the golf course under supervision. Duties include mowing, cup changes, and general labour tasks using golf course equipment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Mow greens, fairways, and tees; change cups and perform golf course maintenance.
• Operate push mowers, specialty mowers and related golf course equipment.
• Perform general labour using shovels, rakes, and hand tools as needed.

Job description

The Greenskeeper I, under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, performs basic maintenance on the golf course. This includes mowing, changing cups, and labor work.Performs basic work on the golf course while using push mowers, green and tee mowers, fairway mowers, out-front mowers, bunker rakes, and aerifiers.

Changes cups.

Performs labor work which includes using shovels, axes, sledge hammers, and rakes.Requires a valid driver's license.

Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Requires ability to tolerate extremes of weather, as well as perform frequent: standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and heavy lifting (as defined by OSHA Work Practices Guide). Specific requirements for lifting and frequencies are stated in terms of the maximum expectations of the position.
