Job summary

Troon’s Riverton Pointe Country Club in Hardeeville, SC is hiring a full-time Greenskeeper. You will perform golf course maintenance, operate small equipment, and support landscape work to keep greens, tees, and bunkers in top condition.

The role requires basic grounds knowledge, tool handling, and a valid driver’s license. You’ll work under a supervising team in a fast-paced hospitality-focused property within Troon’s global network.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction/maintenance.
• Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.
• Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operates mowers and string trimmers to trim greens, aprons, tees, and edges; maintains bunkers and surrounding areas.
• Set tee markers and cups, replace flags, remove debris, and seed divots.
• Maintain fuel and fluid levels for equipment; report problems to the equipment manager.
• Return equipment to the maintenance facility and clean work areas.
• Water and fertilize greens, tees and fairways; under supervision, spray chemicals as directed.
• Mark course for cart control; adjust barriers and signs; assist with hazard areas.
• Assist in project work: construct new greens/tees/fairways; lay sod and seed.
• Excavate trenches with hand tools and assist irrigation work; operate light equipment if needed.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part ofTroon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Golf Course Maintenance/Greenskeeper is responsible for performing routine manual labor in golf course maintenance; semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and gang mowers.

The successful individual must possess:

• Knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction/maintenance work.
• Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.
• Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  

Job Functions:

• Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; edges cart paths, edges rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
• Set tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee and towel flags when needed; removes debris; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots; and cleans flower beds.
• Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.
• Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.
• Waters and fertilizes tees, greens and fairways, and under the direct supervision of a certified applicator, sprays chemicals on designated areas.
• Under the direction of the superintendent or assistant superintendent, the greenskeeper marks the course for cart control weekly; moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs; and may mark hazard and drop areas.
• Helps in project work; assists in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways.
• Excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; assists with repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
• May be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks or other light equipment.
• Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
