POSITION OBJECTIVE
Under supervision, provides the care and maintenance of the golf course, landscape beds, trees and shrubs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operates mechanical equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, edgers, and chainsaws.
- Ability to stand and walk for multiple hours throughout the day, working in all weather.
- Plants trees, shrubs, turf grass and flowers and keeps a clean landscape bed.
- Prunes and trims trees and shrubs.
- Assists in construction of new greens, tees, fairways and bunkers by grading, preparing soil and planting.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Participates in other related tasks as needed.
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel:
- Adhere to hotel safety standards.
- Perform other duties and handle projects as assigned by Manager.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent General Education Degree (GED).
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- May be required to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Will be required to work weekends and holidays.
- 6 Months of landscaping experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Most work tasks are performed outdoors.
- Position requires walking; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the resort on a timely basis.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch on a regular basis to maintain the golf course.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
