Job summary

Stefanini Group seeks a Greenhouse Technician in Memphis, TN for 40 hours per week on-site. You will work inside/outside the greenhouse and headhouse, sampling plant tissue, maintaining growth conditions, and assisting in plant selection and care. Strong attention to detail and ability to stand long hours are required.

The assignment is 12 months, potentially extending to 24 months. Minimum HS diploma; Bachelor's preferred. Salary range listed as $18.00–$20.00/hour with onsite environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED minimum; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Entry-level greenhouse/landscaping/horticulture/gardening experience recommended.
• On-site role: 40 hours/week, Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM with 30 minutes lunch.

Responsibilities

• Greenhouse sampling and maintenance to support trait introgression.
• Sample engineered plant tissue for DNA and protein testing.
• Plant engineered cotton seeds and maintain growth conditions.
• Prepare buffer solutions to extract protein from cotton leaves.
• Assist in plant selection, transplanting, placement and care.
• Work inside/outside greenhouse and headhouse; stand for long periods.
• Monitor watering, cleaning, harvesting, fertilizing, pruning as required.

Job Title: Greenhouse Technician

Location: 7622 Smythe Farm Rd, Memphis, TN 38120

Shift timing: Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 3:30 PM; 30 minutes lunch; 40 hours per week

Overview:

Work Environment: Greenhouse and Headhouse

Qualifications:

100% onsite

EDUCATION:

• Minimum HS Diploma or GED but Bachelor's is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

• Entry level experience in greenhouse, landscaping, horticulture, gardening.

Responsibilities:

Duties:

The incumbent will work inside/outside the greenhouse and headhouse to support the trait Introgression and initiatives by performing the following duties:

• Sampling genetically engineered plant tissue for DNA and Protein testing in search of desired traits.
• Planting engineered cotton seeds and maintaining suitable conditions for proper growth.
• Preparing buffer solution to extract protein from cotton leaf.
• Assisting in plant selection, transplanting, plant placement, and plant care.
• Candidates must work very well with others, pay attention to detail, and be able to stand for long periods of time.

Job Requirements Details:

• Greenhouse work will include, but not be limited to: water monitoring, cleaning, hanging harvest bags and harvesting, fertilizing, pruning, crossing, re-clipping and stringing plants, cleaning and trashing.
• The environment can very hot. Candidates must pay attention to detail and be able to stand for long periods of time.
