Job summary

ManpowerGroup seeks a Greenhouse Technician to join the wheat research team at a four-acre facility in Johnston, IA. The role supports daily greenhouse operations and plant care within a controlled environment, contributing to innovative agricultural research and sustainability goals.

You will perform seeding, pollinating, transplanting, watering, harvesting, and tissue sampling for laboratory analysis, while ensuring accurate data collection and strict safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences preferred.
• Two or more years of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to work independently and with others.
• Basic proficiency with MS Office and ability to learn internal research software.

Our client is seeking a Greenhouse Technician to join their wheat team. As a Greenhouse Technician, you will be part of the Controlled Environments Team supporting research operations at a four-acre facility. The ideal candidate will have some educational or hands on experience with plants, hand pollinating and plant care.

Job Title: Greenhouse Technician

Location: Johnston, IA

Pay Range: $22/hour

Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Monday-Friday

What's the Job?

• Support daily greenhouse functions and research activities in a safe, professional, and compliant environment.
• Perform plant care tasks such as seeding, pollinating, transplanting, watering, harvesting, and seed handling for wheat and other crops.
• Collect and prepare plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis, ensuring sample integrity for large volumes.
• Assist with research experiments, data collection, and accurate record-keeping.
• Maintain greenhouse sanitation by disposing of regulated materials and waste appropriately.
