Job summary

The Greenhouse Gardener at Dallas Arboretum supports daily greenhouse operations under the Greenhouse Manager and Crew Lead. This role involves plant care, propagation, and research trials, with outdoor work and physical labor including operating machinery.

Responsibilities include propagation tasks, daily watering, maintenance, and assisting with material deliveries and irrigation system upkeep. Weekend availability is required on a rotating basis to support operations.

Qualifications

• Lifts up to 30 pounds; works in all weather conditions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Able to manage multiple tasks with good organizational skills.
• Willingness to work on weekends/holidays and flexible hours.
• Valid driver’s license to operate garden vehicles.
• 1 year of relevant greenhouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist plant propagation including seed sowing, transplanting, and caretaking of seedlings and cuttings.
• Water daily and monitor plant health.
• Perform routine greenhouse maintenance per weekly schedule.
• Maintain cleanliness in greenhouse, potting area, and storage spaces.
• Assist with preparing, pulling, and loading materials for delivery to the Arboretum.
• Aid in installation, maintenance, and repair of drip irrigation systems.
• Operate a box truck to move materials between locations.
• Work weekends on a rotating schedule.
