Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago's Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a Clinical Faculty- Greenhouse Management and Teaching. This renewable, non-tenure track, full-time role centers on managing the Plant Research Laboratory greenhouse and teaching undergraduate BIOS courses.

The appointee will supervise staff, oversee environmental control systems, and coordinate space use for research and teaching while supporting student projects and outreach. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in plant biology, ecology, evolutionary biology or a closely related field.
• Experience with greenhouse operations, plant care, or controlled-environment systems.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day greenhouse operations and environmental control systems; coordinate users and safety.
• Teach at least one course per semester and support laboratory modules in BIOS courses.
• Advise on experimental setup, plant care, and support undergraduate research (BIOS 199/399).
• Manage PRL’s role as a campus and community resource and engage in outreach and service.
