Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago seeks a Clinical Faculty member to serve as Greenhouse Manager in the Plant Research Laboratory. The role blends operational oversight of a shared research and teaching facility with undergraduate instruction and student engagement.

The appointment is renewable, non-tenure track, full-time, with responsibilities across greenhouse operations, teaching, research support, and outreach, start date flexible by May 2027, and with a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

The Ph.D. in plant biology, ecology, or related field is required.
Demonstrated greenhouse operations experience or plant care expertise.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day greenhouse operations, including plant collections, environmental controls, safety, and user coordination.
Teach at least one course per semester based on the PRL grounds and greenhouses.
Support laboratory modules and instructional materials for BIOS courses.
Advise on experimental setup, plant care, and basic methodological considerations.
Engage in outreach and serve as a campus/community resource.
