Job summary

Harba in Johnston, IA is seeking a dedicated Greenhouse Technician to assist with propagation, planting, watering, and maintenance of greenhouse plants. You will monitor environmental conditions and support routine lab tests to optimize growth.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of plant care, growth cycles, and greenhouse operations is a plus.
  • Ability to perform lab tests, collect samples, and analyze plant health data.
  • Proficiency in using scientific instruments, environmental monitoring systems, and lab equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data entry software.

  • Monitor and record temperature, humidity, light levels, and other environmental conditions to optimize plant growth.
  • Conduct routine plant health assessments, identifying and addressing pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
  • Perform laboratory experiments, including soil and water testing, plant tissue sampling, and data collection.
  • Maintain and calibrate greenhouse equipment, such as irrigation systems, lighting, and ventilation controls.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plant handling, sanitation, and safety protocols.
  • Assist researchers and scientists in carrying out experiments and trials related to plant biology and agriculture.
  • Keep accurate records of greenhouse activities, document research findings, and prepare reports.
  • Follow all safety and biosecurity protocols to prevent contamination and ensure a clean working environment.
