Job summary

Long Branch Public Schools seeks a Green Team Head to lead district-wide sustainability efforts and guide school Green Teams toward Sustainable Jersey certification. The role supports environmental education, coordinating with staff, students and community partners to foster a culture of stewardship across all schools.

The annual stipend position for 2026-27 requires strong leadership, collaboration, and project management, with the District Sustainability Office providing oversight and support.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and attend scheduled after-school Green Team meetings.
  • Complete the NJ Sustainable Jersey for Schools application for the district.
  • Support and guide each school's Green Team Leader in completing their individual school's NJ Sustainable Jersey for Schools application.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and local organizations to support and expand green initiatives across the district.

Reports To: Social & Environmental Sustainability Officer

Job Goal: To lead and coordinate district-wide sustainability efforts, support Green Team School Leaders in achieving Sustainable Jersey certification, and foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility across all schools in the district.

Performance Responsibilities

In conjunction with the District Sustainability Officer:

  • Plan and attend scheduled after-school Green Team meetings.
  • Complete the NJ Sustainable Jersey for Schools application for the district.
  • Support and guide each school's Green Team Leader in completing their individual school's NJ Sustainable Jersey for Schools application.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and local organizations to support and expand green initiatives across the district.
Support For School-Based Green Team Leaders
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for Green Team Leaders in each school.
  • Help coordinate environmental education activities, student-driven sustainability projects, and school-wide eco-friendly events.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment in sustainability practices across the district.
  • Promote a shared vision of environmental stewardship among staff, students, and the broader community.

Rate: $2,500 annual
