Job summary

A prestigious law firm is seeking a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Engineer with Microsoft Purview expertise to lead data governance, security, and compliance initiatives. This remote, full-time role supports the Office of General Counsel, eDiscovery, IT, and Information Governance, with collaboration across multiple offices in the US.

Responsibilities include designing Purview solutions, implementing DLP and retention policies, and providing training and ongoing governance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, Law or related field.
5–8 years of experience securing Microsoft 365 environments.
Proven expertise with Purview, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online.
Strong knowledge of legal hold, privacy regulations and compliance standards.
Experience with Azure Information Protection and data-at-rest encryption.

Responsibilities

Implement, configure, and maintain Microsoft Purview components like Data Map and Unified Catalog.
Design and execute legal hold strategies using Purview eDiscovery and retention features.
Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures.
Conduct regular audits of data practices and compliance posture.
Generate reports with Power BI and Purview dashboards.
Implement information protection across Microsoft 365 and Azure.
Configure Data Loss Prevention policies to prevent data leakage.
Establish and manage data retention policies for regulatory adherence.
Monitor insider threats and respond to security alerts and incidents.
Develop data classification and labeling strategies.
Improve security posture of collaboration environments; IAM governance.
Collaborate with legal, IT, and governance teams on security/compliance goals.
Provide staff training on data governance and security best practices.
Maintain documentation of security policies, procedures, and incidents.
