Job summary

Graywolf Integrated Construction Company in Cameron, LA is seeking a Firewatch for a full-time role with 12-hour shifts. Per Diem is eligible for workers located more than 60 miles away, and the project length is 3 months or longer.

The Firewatch performs safety, fire hazard and confined space duties to ensure workers operate within permits and hazards are communicated promptly. Duties include acting as Fire Watch/Hole Watch/Bottle Watch, watching for hazards, maintaining permits, and following

Qualifications

• Entry level position; prior experience preferred.
• Must communicate effectively and accurately with employees and customers.
• Must pass required Confined Space Entry training.
• Must complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Responsibilities

• Act as Fire Watch, Hole Watch or Bottle Watch.
• Watches out for fire hazards in the workplace while work is performed by other employees.
• Maintains the conditions and requirements stated on the safety permit.
• Keep flammable materials from ignition sources.
• In the event of an emergency, follow protocol listed on the safety permit and immediately alert others of dangers in the area.
• Call 911 or emergency alarm number as needed.
• Stop operations (Stop Work Authority) if you find any hazardous conditions.
• Maintain constant means of communication with supervision.
• Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers, hydrants, fixed monitors and hose carts at any time.
• Always stay on the jobsite while work is being completed.
• Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
• Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Summary:

Qualifications:

• This is an entry level position - however candidates with prior experience will be preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and accurately with employees and customers.
• Must be able to successfully pass required Confined Space Entry training.
• Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Physical/Site Requirements:

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
