Job summary

Environment New Jersey is hiring a Clean Water Associate to build public support for our clean water campaigns in New Jersey. We’re working to protect rivers, lakes and streams, drinking water and to reduce PFAS pollution, including replacing lead service lines and safeguarding watersheds.

Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply, with training provided. You will educate, mobilize, build coalitions, engage media, organize events, and travel as needed across New Jersey and Pennsylvania to

Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates must be able to travel regularly and be available evenings and weekends as needed.
• Training on advocacy and organizing skills will be provided by supervision.

Responsibilities

• Educate and mobilize public support: educate the public on issues and ways to get involved.
• Build powerful coalitions by engaging a broad range of organizations and groups.
• Earn traditional and social media attention: organize news conferences and write opinion pieces; grow a social media following.
• Organize events and work with volunteers: webinars, community events, public meetings, recruit partners and members.
• Lobby elected officials: meet with city councilors and state legislators to advocate.
• Research and write reports: analyze data to influence public debate and policy proposals.
• Recruit new people to the team: bring in volunteers, interns, and staff.
• Run a grassroots campaign office in summer with fundraising goals and possible relocations.
