Job summary

BrightView Landscapes is seeking an Equipment Operator to operate and maintain its heavy equipment fleet in a landscaping environment. The role requires following safety policies, reporting, and working with foremen and crew across daily projects.

Applicants should be able to communicate in English and Spanish, prioritize tasks, and perform light maintenance while ensuring efficiency and safety on site in Florida.

Qualifications

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Self-starter and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Basic knowledge of plant material.
• Equipment certification as needed.
• Able to communicate in English and Spanish - oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks as directed by a Foreman or Supervisor
• Monitor and maintain equipment on a daily basis
• Written and oral communication for required reporting
• Be aware of and follow all branch safety policies and emphasize safety in all activities
• Follow instructions accurately
• Communicate effectively with assigned supervisor and crew
• Safely operate forklift and tractors loading, soil mixing, materials handling and other equipment operations as needed
• Light equipment maintenance

Physical Demands/Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
• Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)
• Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day

Work Environment

• Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic
• Work near or about natural bodies of water
• Ability to work in extreme conditions - temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
• Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
