General Summary:

Qualcomm Graphics Software Engineers architect, design, implement, verify, and optimize the structure and performance of GPU hardware, drivers, features, applications, and tools. Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Game Rendering, or related work experience.
  2. OR
  3. Master's degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Game Rendering, or related work experience.
  4. OR
  5. PhD in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Game Rendering, or related work experience.
  6. 1+ year of work experience with one or more programming language suitable for graphics (e.g., C++, C).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
  2. 2+ years of relevant GPU experience.
  3. 1+ year of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  4. 1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director and above).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Leverages advanced Graphics knowledge and experience to architect, design, implement, verify, and optimize the structure and performance of critical GPU hardware, drivers, features, applications, and tools.
  2. Writes code for complex features, drivers, and APIs using different languages (e.g., C, C++, perl, python) and ensures code will perform effectively on different platforms.
  3. Develops and maintains comprehensive pre- and post-silicon tests using advanced tools and methods in different environments (e.g., simulation, emulation, on-device) to ensure optimal performance, stability, security, and identify issues.
  4. Identifies deficiencies and proposes solutions to improve designs; implements quality improvements in industry standard APIs and GPU hardware.
  5. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, customers, external stakeholders (developers and standards groups), and/or third-party vendors to expose new features and functionality that align with needs and goals for implementation and customization.
  6. Writes detailed design documentation and feature descriptions for complex projects to guide developers and/or customers to use or implement software.

Level of Responsibility:

  1. Works independently with minimal supervision.
  2. Provides supervision/guidance to other team members.
  3. Decision-making may affect work beyond immediate work group.
  4. Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information. May require basic negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
  5. Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions.
  6. Tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$141,600.00 - $212,400.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
