Job Description
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches Graphic Design & Visual Communications skills and knowledge full-time to students in grades 9-12 in accordance with the Chapter 74 Graphic Design & Visual Communications Frameworks.
- Develops lesson plans, maintains an electronic gradebook, and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
- Demonstrates occupational materials, equipment, tools, and processes using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids in accordance with the Chapter 74 Graphic Design & Visual Communications Frameworks.
- Grades and monitors student progress through the use of progress reports, report cards, and student competency lists.
- Communicates with employers, parents, and school counselors on individual pupil progress.
- Interacts, as needed, with community members and school-based colleagues to address Graphic Design-related projects.
- Attends special education Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, where the teacher’s presence is required.
- Attends meetings as required by the teacher contracts.
- Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent-Director.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position may require long periods of standing and lifting up to 50lbs. The teacher may also be required to operate hand tools and motor equipment and may work in confined spaces with exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, and gases.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten-month, school year position (183 days).
Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Teachers’ Contract.
Fringe benefits as outlined in the Teachers’ Contract.
EVALUATION:
As per the Teachers’ Contract.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold the Graphic Design & Visual Communications Chapter 74 teaching license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or be eligible to obtain such a license.
- Requirements to obtain:
- Associate’s degree or higher in subject matter
- Four years of recent full-time employment experience directly related to Graphic Design & Visual Communications
- Passing score on each of the written and performance exams for Graphic Design & Visual Communications
- Achieve a passing score on either Vocational Technical Literacy Skills or Communication and Literacy Skills
- Must demonstrate the ability to work with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the public in creating an atmosphere where individuals feel welcome and respected.
- Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Prior teaching experience in a vocational Chapter 74 program preferred.
- May have such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent-Director deems appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:
To develop in each pupil awareness and understanding coupled with the basic skills and knowledge applicable to graphic communications in business or public sector; and to instill in each pupil safe working habits, the importance of the continuation of his/her education and the assets of reliability, competence, loyalty, and dependability.
- At least 4 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
