Job summary

HydroGraph USA INC in Austin, TX is seeking a hands-on R&D Laboratory Technician to join the graphene research team. You will set up and operate synthesis equipment, run SOP-controlled trials, collect samples, and record data while maintaining a safe, efficient lab environment.

You will collaborate with R&D scientists and the Advanced Manufacturing team to move new materials toward scale-up, with full training on synthesis platforms and analytical methods provided.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline (an Associate degree with relevant hands‑on laboratory experience will also be considered)
• Good understanding of laboratory safety and good laboratory practice
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs
• Strong organizational and time management skills; capable of managing repeated trials and parallel tasks
• Comfortable working in a hands-on lab environment with powders, chemicals, and process equipment

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and prepare laboratory equipment for planned experiments, including reactors, gas handling systems, furnaces, filtration, and drying/collection apparatus
• Execute repeated synthesis trials to prepare research samples according to SOPs
• Monitor experiments, track process conditions, and record observations in real time
• Collect, label, and archive synthesized powder samples for downstream characterization
• Support basic analytical testing and characterization such as density, Raman spectroscopy, TGA, FTIR, and BET
• Flag anomalies and equipment irregularities to the responsible scientist
• Support equipment commissioning, calibration checks, and routine verification
