Job summary

Communities In Schools of Central Texas seeks a Senior Director of Grants to lead the organization's institutional grants program, overseeing a team and driving major funding from foundations, corporate sponsors, and government sources.

The role blends writing and strategy: about 50% writing, editing and leading proposals, with the remaining time on institutional grants strategy, team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and oversight of the grants function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• Seven or more years of progressively responsible grant writing and institutional fundraising experience.
• Experience securing six- and seven-figure grants from foundations, corporate, and government funders.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with ability to synthesize complex information into clear, persuasive narratives.
• Experience leading complex proposal development involving multiple departments, stakeholders, budgets, and sources of information.
• Experience developing prospecting strategies and managing institutional funding pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate funding opportunities and determine strategic fit and competitiveness.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the organization's highest-priority, most complex grant proposals and reports, dedicating ~50% to proposal development and writing.
• Translate organizational priorities into funder-centered narratives.
• Oversee proposal development from concept to final submission.
• Review proposals and reports with the Chief Development Officer and senior leaders.
• Ensure alignment of narrative, budget, and funder requirements.
• Develop and execute institutional grants prospecting strategy.
• Build and manage a diversified funding pipeline.
• Lead grants planning, pipeline management, and renewal strategies.
• Provide leadership to the grants team and supervise staff and contractors.
