Job summary

University of Utah is seeking a Grants Sponsored Officer to support faculty securing external funding and to manage award life cycles. The role liaises with sponsors, negotiates terms, and ensures compliance across pre- and post-award activities.

Ideally requires experience with federal policies, strong communication, and advanced office software proficiency. The position is hybrid, located on campus in Salt Lake City with standard hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with relevant 4+ years in grants and contracts.
• Ability to interpret federal policies and guidelines for sponsors.
• CRA certification preferred and beneficial to the role.

Responsibilities

• Advise faculty and staff on sponsor and university policies for grant applications and awards.
• Negotiate terms with sponsors for awards and subawards and other agreements.
• Help resolve issues in administration of applications and awards.
• Provide formal and informal training to faculty and staff.
• Manage sponsored projects data across databases and systems.
• Collect metrics and prepare reports on contracting and program management.
• Respond to inquiries from faculty, staff, and sponsors.
• Serve as OSP liaison with General Counsel on legal matters.
• Coordinate with university leadership and research offices.
• Track and manage sponsored agreements in information systems.
• Support campus-wide administrators with policies and practices.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal laws and update training materials.
