Job summary

Habitat for Humanity of Orange County (Orange Habitat) is seeking a Grants Specialist to join the Development Department and support the organization's growing grants program. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this full-time, non-exempt role will help secure funding for affordable homeownership initiatives across the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, nonprofit management, public policy, or related field.
• 1–3 years of professional experience (internships or relevant coursework considered).
• Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
• Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.

Responsibilities

• Grants Coordination & Execution: Maintain grants calendar, manage deadlines/submissions, track requirements, and support reporting.
• Proposal Writing & Content Development: Draft proposals, LOIs, and reports; gather program information and budgets; translate work for funders; collaborate with Communications.
• Prospect Research: Identify foundation/corporate opportunities; maintain funder pipeline; monitor deadlines and eligibility; attend funder meetings.
• Funder Stewardship Support: Maintain relationships with funders; prepare stewardship materials and impact reports; track engagement.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate with Development Associate; collect program data/outcomes; align grants with events/partnerships; support data entry and donor stewardship.
