Job summary

California Community Foundation is seeking a Client Services Officer in Los Angeles to manage complex grant activities across donor-advised, scholarship, and community-aligned funds while ensuring compliance and a high-quality donor and partner experience.

The role serves as a subject-matter expert on grantmaking policies, leads process improvements, strengthens data quality, and collaborates across departments to deliver customer- and community-centered grant operations that advance CCF’s

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of professional experience with a foundation, nonprofit, or public-sector agency.
  • Experience with advanced technology systems including CRM, data management, and grantmaking platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve workflows and implement efficient processes.
  • Strong knowledge of grantmaking and nonprofit regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of standard and complex grants with accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted contact for donors, fund advisors, committees, students, and partners.
  • Oversee due diligence, grant structuring, status reviews, and documentation controls.
  • Translate grant policies into practical guidance and workflows.
  • Monitor and improve grant operations, reduce bottlenecks, and streamline workflows.
  • Maintain reliable grant data and develop reports with data-driven insights.
  • Support use of grants management systems through training and templates.
  • Escalate sensitive donor/grantee matters balancing policy and relationships.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and other teams to strengthen operations.
  • Provide training and coaching on systems, processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Analyze information to produce meaningful reports and insights for priorities.
  • Represent CCF professionally with donors and external partners.
