Job summary

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is seeking a Grants Project Manager to research grant opportunities, write funding proposals, and lead post-award reporting for Tribal Affairs and Ponca Health Services. This role requires extensive knowledge of federal pre- and post-award grants administration and collaboration with leadership across departments.

Responsibilities include preparing applications, budgets, and narratives, coordinating cross-department workflows, and managing budgets in grants software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in grants management, business administration, public administration, accounting, budgeting or related field.
  • Three years of experience managing federal, state, and tribal grants with focus on pre and post-award compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal Assistance Regulations: OMB Circulars, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
  • Advanced experience with grant database management platforms.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable; must pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character and criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on federal, state, tribal, and private grant programs aligned with the tribe's priorities and coordinate with department heads to develop proposals.
  • Prepare, write, and submit competitive grant applications with budgets, narratives, and compliance reports as required.
  • Collaborate across tribal departments to ensure engagement in the grants process and address departmental needs.
  • Manage post-award budgeting, including budgeting forms and entries into grants management systems per grantor and tribal policies.
  • Schedule and lead post-award kickoff and periodic check-ins with program staff and department heads; provide progress updates.
  • Enter and track program milestones and financial reporting deadlines in the tribal grants system; gather required documentation.
  • Monitor progress of grant-funded projects, report delays, and provide timely updates to leadership.
  • Identify deviations from approved budgets or scope; coordinate with staff for prior approvals when needed.
  • Prepare and submit non-competing continuation applications for multi-year grants; ensure timely documentation.
  • Collaborate to monitor program income and ensure reporting aligns with grant requirements.
  • Prepare documentation for site visits and audits; participate to ensure compliance.
  • Submit required programmatic reports per agency terms; communicate performance and challenges to leadership.
  • Provide clerical support in grants software implementation and updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.
