Base Grants Manager

Base is planning to bring a million developers and a billion users onchain. We need your help to make that happen.

Built on Optimism’s open-source OP Stack, we are the second Core Dev team working on it, ensuring it remains a public good, with some sequencer revenue funding public goods.

We are seeking a Base Grants Manager to help us allocate funding effectively within the ecosystem. You will be responsible for scaling and operationalizing all grant programs and managing their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Define the overall grant and builder funding strategy to support the ecosystem
• Design and implement targeted grant programs (e.g., builders, creators, community organizers)
• Establish scalable processes for grant identification, evaluation, funding, and monitoring
• Review and evaluate grant applications
• Identify new grant opportunities and strategic investments
• Collaborate with legal, finance, ecosystem, marketing, and global teams
• Manage partnerships and vendors related to grants
• Engage with the Base community and manage relationships with applicants and recipients

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years in a fast-paced finance-related role (crypto/tech, investment banking, venture capital)
• Operational experience in crypto investment analysis, portfolio management, or grants
• Deep knowledge of the crypto ecosystem, especially Base & Ethereum
• Familiarity with existing grant programs and lessons learned
• Exceptional operational, project management, and organizational skills
• Strong technical and financial skills, proficient with spreadsheets and project tools
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Excellent communication skills
• Self-motivated with a growth mindset

Nice to Have:

• Experience creating and scaling grant programs
• Coding skills (SQL or Python)
