Covenant House Florida seeks a seasoned Grant Writer/Manager to develop and execute comprehensive grant strategies, securing six-figure support from a diversified funder portfolio in Florida. You’ll manage deadlines, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with executive leadership to align funding with program needs.

The role requires strong writing, research, and donor relations skills, with experience managing federal, state, and local grants, and proficiency in grant management systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in nonprofit management, public administration, communications or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute grant strategies to support Covenant House Florida’s mission.
  • Research and analyze federal, state, local, and private philanthropic funding opportunities.
  • Research, write, submit, and secure grants from a diversified portfolio of funders.
  • Meet or exceed grant acquisition, renewal, upgrade, funder engagement, and revenue KPIs.
  • Maintain the grant tracking system and submit weekly status reports to the Chief Development Officer.
  • Ensure compliance with funding guidelines and grant deliverables.
  • Participate in monthly and quarterly funder meetings and visits.
  • Complete and submit grant reports and follow-up tasks on time.
  • Maintain timely and relevant communication with grant funders.
  • Maintain grant management systems, user access, reporting, renewals, and related tasks.
  • Develop and implement the annual funder stewardship plan with the Chief Development Officer.
  • Coordinate with senior leaders to align submissions with program needs and communicate deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the CFO to ensure funding streams are fiscally responsible and reporting requirements are met.
  • Work with the Development Operations Assistant to maintain funder portfolio records and donor database contacts and interactions.
  • Represent Covenant House Florida at networking, public speaking, community, and social events.
  • Support participation, sponsorships, and fundraising events including Sleep Out.

Job description

  • Research and analyze federal, state, local, and private philanthropic funding opportunities
  • Research, write, submit, and secure grants from a diversified portfolio of funders
  • Meet or exceed grant acquisition, renewal, upgrade, funder engagement, and revenue KPIs
  • Maintain the grant tracking system and submit weekly status reports to the Chief Development Officer

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in nonprofit management, public administration, communications or a related field preferred
  • Five years of progressive grant writing and management experience required
  • Proven track record of securing six‑figure grants from government agencies, foundations, and corporations required
  • Three years of experience managing federal, state, and local government grants, including compliance and reporting preferred
  • Nonprofit development experience preferred
  • Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and strategic thinking abilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Office Suite, grant management systems, donor database management systems, and internet‑based software
  • Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License, vehicle insurance, and an acceptable driving record
  • Must pass Florida and national criminal background checks before beginning employment
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to work standing, walking, and/or sitting for at least 8 hours per day/shift
  • Ability to travel as needed for training, donor meetings, community events, and job requirements
  • Some weekend and holiday work may be required
