Job summary

The MacArthur Foundation is seeking a Grants Management Intern for Summer 2027 in Chicago, IL (Hybrid). The internship runs June 8–August 11, 2027 with compensation starting at $22.00 per hour.

The role supports the Grants Management team by researching philanthropic trends, analyzing stakeholder feedback, and helping craft internal and external communications materials. The ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate student with a demonstrated interest in philanthropy, nonprofit

Qualifications

• Strong independent research skills and the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative information.
• Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with data synthesis and analysis; self-motivated and results-oriented.
• Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

Responsibilities

• Monitor emerging trends and synthesize relevant insights for the Grants Management team.
• Conduct qualitative analysis of stakeholder or grantee feedback; identify themes to improve grant practice.
• Help develop and refine internal and external communications materials (newsletters, guides, process checklists).
• Provide meeting and call support: notetaking, track action items, ensure follow-up on decisions.
• Support other special projects and administrative tasks as needed.
