Job summary

Maryland Nonprofits seeks an experienced Grants Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of externally funded projects and ensure regulatory compliance across private, state, and federal grants. You will lead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of the grants management system and related processes.

The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with Finance, IT, and program staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in higher education administration, finance, business, public policy/government, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of post-award grant management experience.
• Certification: CGMS, PMP, CRA preferred.
• Experience in higher education and with sponsored program databases preferred.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full lifecycle of externally funded grants and compliance.
• Lead the College’s grants lifecycle management system configuration and optimization.
• Design and improve automated workflows for proposals, approvals, reporting, and modifications.
• Establish centralized grants data governance and ensure data integrity.
• Develop real-time dashboards and analytics for leadership visibility.
• Provide guidance to grant project managers and investigators.
• Monitor milestones, expenditures, and compliance risks; implement corrective actions.
• Lead internal compliance monitoring and audit readiness, including 2 CFR Part 200.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to integrate systems.
• Coordinate subawards and external partnerships and maintain documentation.
• Serve as liaison to funding agencies and auditors.
• Advise leadership on performance, trends, and opportunities.
• Maintain and update grants policies and manuals.
• Provide training to faculty and staff on grants management practices.
• Supervise part-time staff and consultants as needed.
