Job summary

Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law seeks a Grants Manager to lead the full grant lifecycle, ensuring accurate reporting and effective stewardship of public and private funding. The role is full-time, exempt, based in Los Angeles with a hybrid in-office/work-from-home policy and an October 2026 start.

You will identify opportunities, draft proposals and reports, manage grant calendars, coordinate site visits and audits, and serve as the primary contact for funders, collaborating with staff,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered
• At least three years of grants management experience
• Grant management experience within a public interest law firm is preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage the full grant lifecycle, including proposal writing, post-award compliance, reporting, and audits
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with funders, leadership, and colleagues
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and ability to learn similar tools; LegalServer preferred but not required
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining confidentiality and strong ethical judgment
• Availability to respond to time-sensitive funder needs outside regular business hours when necessary

Responsibilities

• Identify and research grant opportunities aligned with the Buhai Center’s mission and goals
• Develop, write, and submit grant proposals, reports, invoices, and other funder communications
• Manage grant calendars, compliance deadlines, records, and tracking systems
• Collaborate with staff, accounting, and consultants to collect data and prepare required documentation
• Serve as the primary point of contact for grant funders, including coordinating site visits, audits, and other funder communications
