Job summary

Hurtt Family Health Clinic, operating under the Orange County Rescue Mission, seeks a Staff Accountant to provide financial, administrative and clerical services to ensure accurate accounting operations under a shared services agreement. The role supports monthly closings, journal entries, reconciliations and grant-related invoicing.

The position requires attention to detail, ability to collaborate with clinic managers and external auditors, and willingness to travel weekly between Hurtt sites;

Qualifications

• Experience as an accountant with some accounts payable experience in a medical or dental clinic is preferred but not required.
• Detail oriented with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and/or entering financial information.
• Experience with database entry, reporting and maintenance, including operating computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs at a highly proficient level.
• Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate.
• Self-motivated, flexible with the ability to work with a team to meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile Hurtt balance sheet accounts monthly and prepare required journaling.
• Enter bank transactions and reconcile bank accounts; prepare A/R journal entries and quarterly adjustments.
• Prepare and send grant invoices; track grant expenses and ensure funds are spent per parameters.
• Maintain documentation and assist with external audits; assist with ad hoc projects as needed.
• Cross-train to support accounting clerk duties and backup tasks as required.
