Job summary

Corpus Christi Housing is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Deputy CFO in accounting tasks, financial reporting, year-end audits, and HUD compliance. The role involves close coordination of budgeting, internal controls, and cost allocation with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.

The candidate should have a four-year accounting degree and at least one year of direct accounting experience, with strong GAAP knowledge and proficiency in Excel, Word, and cost accounting processes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting.
• Minimum of one-year direct accounting experience.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
• Ability to work hours other than 8-5 in variable weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Revenue and Expense reports and monthly closing and cost accounting reports.
• Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger on subsidiary accounts; prepares monthly financial statements, and document business transactions.
• Assist with bank reconciliations
• Works with the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting, internal control procedures and cost allocation plan.
• Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels.
• Works with the Deputy CFO to insure the timely completion of financial audits and submittal of all HUD required reports.
• Verification of the daily deposits for all funds.
• Assist with year-end audit documentation
• Assist with the annual budget development and documentation
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
