Job summary

Brown University seeks a Grants and Financial Manager to provide high-level pre- and post-award management and financial services across campus. The role oversees complex grant portfolios and collaborates with departments and centers to ensure compliant, timely financial operations.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree with 5–7 years in financial management, with direct grant accounting experience and proficiency in Microsoft, GSuite, FileMaker, and Workday is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5–7 years financial/budget experience, preferably in academia
• Direct experience in financial management including budgeting, reporting, modeling, analysis, policy implementation, and research administration
• Experience in grant accounting required
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft and GSuite and FileMaker; Workday experience a plus
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; customer service orientation

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of complex grant portfolios for federal and non-federal sponsors
• Lead budgetary/financial planning, analysis, and reporting
• Manage payroll reconciliation, purchasing oversight, and account management
• Coordinate effort certification process and salary reallocations
• Provide training and guidance for grants and finance staff
