Job summary

The Fetzer Institute seeks a Grants & Finance Operations Specialist to ensure accurate, organized financial and grantmaking processes. This onsite role in Kalamazoo, with hybrid flexibility, focuses on coordinating grants through funding lifecycles and supporting finance operations with reliable data and documentation.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience in finance operations or grants administration.
• Experience with CRM/ERP systems, preferably grants management database.
• Knowledge of grant lifecycle, budgets, due diligence, and compliance.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet recurring deadlines.
• Clear written communication and training experience.
• Discretion with confidential financial and partner information.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate grants lifecycle administration: intake, due diligence, approval routing and documentation.
• Establish project budgets and payment schedules in the grants database.
• Maintain records of funding allocations and verify approvals.
• Verify milestone completion before payments are released.
• Monitor grant requirements and deadlines; liaise with Program staff.
• Assist with close-out, records retention and audit support.
