Qualifications

Will you join us?Job SummarySeeks and secures monetary support for a variety of District programs, from private foundations, government agencies, and other sources. Researches the availability of funds from various sources in order to acquire supplemental funding in support of District programs and initiatives. Meets with District administrators to initiate, coordinate, and insure completion of the grant application process. Monitors program activities, ensures program compliance, and keeps abreast of private and public funding priorities and opportunities.Essential Functions• Researches public and private funding sources to determine their compatibility with School District priorities; determines which funding agencies, foundations, and private groups should be solicited.• Drafts concepts papers in support of program priorities; reviews and interprets federal and state foundation and corporation guidelines for funding proposals; prepares documents to be used in soliciting funds; drafts funding proposals and applications.• Assists in the preparation of grant summaries which include information such as the funding source, type of grant, stated priorities, and the amount of funding available.• Advises and assists administrators with grant proposal writing techniques and the formal application process during grant writing workshops.• Prepares and submits grant proposals with input from various program offices and relevant external entities.• Reviews legislation and regulations for applicability to current and potential School District needs and areas of concern, and ensures that program administrators are aware of legislative changes in drafting proposals for funding.• Monitors program services and implementation at sites throughout the city, to ensure adherence to requirements established by the funding source.• Prepares written reports of program activity and compliance as required by various funding sources; maintains records and reports for School District, state, and federal authorities.• Meets with administrative superiors to stay abreast of funding needs of the District and to report on progress in securing funds; prepares periodic reports of grant activities for review.• Ensures adherence to federal, state and local guidelines and regulations. Uses a personal computer to aid in the completion of work related tasks.QualificationsMinimum Requirements• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.• One year of full-time, paid, professional experience, as a Grants Development and Support Trainee.OR• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.• Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience, which must have included as a major responsibility, proposal writing, research analysis, monitoring programs for compliance to guidelines or providing budgetary support services for a complex federally funded program.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities• Demonstrated knowledge of:o legislative and regulatory guidelines, particularly as they relate to funding procedures.o relevant municipal, state, and federal laws and regulations concerning categorically funded programs.o the methods and techniques used in the preparation of funding applications.o the principles of grant development.o federal and state funding sources.• Demonstrated ability to:o prepare and write effective proposals for program funding.o perform research, evaluate data, and prepare useful reports and practical recommendations.o use a personal computer. o present data orally, graphically, and in writing in a clear, concise manner.o establish and maintain effective working relationships.DisclaimerThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
