Job summary

University of South Carolina seeks a Grants Coordinator to provide comprehensive administrative support across the full lifecycle of sponsored projects in Columbia. You will collaborate with principal investigators, departmental leadership, and sponsors to prepare proposals, set up awards, monitor activities, and ensure compliance with regulations.

The role requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and financial principles as they relate to sponsored projects.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with faculty, administrators, sponsors, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • The Grants Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative and operational support across the full lifecycle of sponsored projects, coordinating proposal development and submission, award setup and implementation, and ongoing project monitoring.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with sponsor, institutional, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support communication between principal investigators, departmental leadership, and external sponsors to steward the department’s research portfolio.

  • Skills- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, administrators, sponsors, and external partners. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Abilities- Interpret and apply sponsor guidelines, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements. - Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and research information. - Work independently while effectively collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. - Prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines. - Learn and adapt to evolving sponsor requirements, institutional policies, and research administration systems. - Support principal investigators and departmental leadership through proactive communication, planning, and administrative coordination. - Maintain accurate records and documentation that support compliance, audits, and financial accountability.
