Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Grants & Contracts Compliance Manager to address growing research compliance demands, resolve effort certifications, and establish templates and processes to reduce risk. The role provides oversight of compliance activities and ensures adherence to sponsor requirements to support efficient research administration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in research administration, sponsored programs, grants and contracts administration, research compliance, research security, or a related area.
• Experience interpreting and applying federal, state, sponsor, and institutional regulations governing sponsored research.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations and compliance requirements, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), CFR, FAR, research security, export controls, cybersecurity requirements, IP, data management and sharing requirements.
• Experience supporting sponsored projects funded by federal agencies, including NSF, NIH, DOE, and DOD, and/or industry sponsors.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, assess, and monitor policies, procedures, internal controls, and compliance programs.
• Experience providing guidance and support throughout the proposal, award, and post-award lifecycle.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex regulatory requirements to diverse audiences.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a key resource to campus regarding research administration compliance areas and may supervise staff
• Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures related to compliance with federal, state, local, and/or university regulations
• Assists principal investigators, researchers, administrative staff, leadership, and others to ensure institutional compliance with applicable regulations
• Ensures institutional compliance related, but not limited to: audit coordination, conflict of interest, intellectual property, and institutional review boards, export controls, effort, or other policies
