Job summary

San Jacinto College is seeking a Senior Grants Accounting Specialist to provide financial oversight of restricted grants district-wide. The role ensures grant compliance, prepares financial reports, and maintains grant expenditures and budgets.

You will assist the Grant PI/Director with journal entries, budget management, requisition approvals, and audits. The position may involve supervising part-time staff and training colleagues, with an option for limited remote work after a provisional

Qualifications

Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, or related work experience required.
Preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience or related coursework.

Responsibilities

Oversee grant accounting and compliance with private, local, state, and federal agencies.
Prepare financial reports and maintain grant expenditures and budgets.
Assist Grant PI/Director with grant financials, budget management, and journal entries.
Approve requisitions for purchasing and assist with financial audits.
Monitor grant expenses and perform monthly analysis and reconciliation of GL accounts.
Enter journal vouchers for budgets, adjustments, cost transfers, disbursements, and corrections.
Prepare fiscal reports for sponsored programs and maintain supporting documentation.
Train and supervise part-time staff and coordinate with grant personnel.
