Job summary

Delaware Nature Society is seeking a Staff Accountant to handle monthly close, grant accounting, and reporting across government, foundation, and corporate grants. The role supports audits, draws, and project-based fund accounting at four sites in Delaware.

The position requires nonprofit accounting experience, proficiency with QuickBooks Online Advanced and donor software, plus strong Excel and communication skills. Full-time, on-site in Ashland.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years’ accounting experience, preferably with grants management and nonprofit fund accounting.
• Experience with grant compliance, accruals, and month-end close processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Monitors fiscal compliance of government, foundation, and corporate grants.
• Ensures proper accounting to accurately charge allowable expenses by grant.
• Manages monthly revenue accruals, invoicing, and closing of books.
• Maintains grant reporting requirements and regulatory knowledge.
• Prepares grant budgets and assists with proposal budgeting.
• Supports annual audits and internal reporting with project managers.
• Backups for accounts payable, cash receipts, and payroll.
