The Grant Writing Manager is an experienced senior professional writer, responsible for compelling content development and full scale project management of grants proposals, as well as providing strategic recommendations for the successful execution of grant proposals that are well-aligned with Foundation guidelines. Managers are expected to support approximately 40-50 solicitations each year, resulting in $1M to $1.5M annually.

The position's primary objective is to meet annual and campaign fundraising goals by working with team partners to develop and execute a portfolio of new, renewable, and upgradeable institutional donors. Chief responsibilities include creation of Letters of Inquiry and proposals; assisting other team partners in foundation strategy and development/management of a robust foundation portfolio; identifying and researching appropriate foundation prospects; assisting team partners with donor stewardship and grant deliverables; and management of a foundation fundraising calendar. In addition, Grant Writers advises and assists Philanthropy (and occasionally Corporate) team members across all regions with process and compliance issues related to funding agency regulations and standards, and oversees adherence to Foundation administrative, fiscal, and accounting policies and procedures related to grant proposals and grant management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Manages a portfolio of accounts in partnership with Relationship Coordinators and manages or supportsall stages of the foundation grant lifecycle –primarily proposal development and submission, but alsoprospecting and pre-proposal strategyand post-award deliverables– 40%;
  • Partners with staff toidentify, strategize, and advance high-value foundation funding opportunities– 20%;
  • Oversees robust grant pipeline management, including calendars, tracking systems, compliance review, and coordination of funding-related financial and regulatory documentation– 20%;
  • Providesstrategicguidance to internal stakeholders on program planning, priorities, and alignment with funder requirements– 10%;
  • Develops best practice grant review processes andmaintainsrefined proposals– 10%.
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Years of experience:3-5 years' experience in a major gift/campaign fundraising environment, with a preference forworking with foundations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
  • Knowledge of restricted fund accounting principles, procedures,budgetsand standards along with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
  • Excellentwritten,copy-editingand analytical skills
  • Ability to workindependentlyin a complex organization, effectively prioritizing projects, meeting deadlines, and communicating clearly with diverse stakeholders.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimal.

The starting rate is $75,000 to $82,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
