Bon Secours Mercy Health Baltimore Foundation seeks an experienced Grant Writer to develop and submit compelling grant proposals, manage timelines, and coordinate with program staff to align funding with strategic priorities.

You will oversee the full grant lifecycle, including research, budgeting support, storytelling, and reporting, working with internal partners to maximize philanthropic impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5-7 years of successful grant writing and coordination.
• Experience securing government agencies, private and public foundations, and corporate funders.
• Proven experience researching, developing, writing, and submitting competitive grant proposals, budgets, reports, and supporting materials.
• Experience managing multiple grant projects with complex funding objectives.
• Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
• Ability to translate program outcomes, evaluation data, and community needs into funding narratives.
• Knowledge of prospect research tools and techniques.
• Understanding of grant compliance, restricted funding regulations, reporting expectations, and stewardship best practices.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information from diverse stakeholders to develop funding requests.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and build relationships with staff and leadership.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Asana, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop, write, and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, and other funding communications.
• Partner with program leaders to identify funding priorities and develop project concepts.
• Translate complex programs and data into persuasive narratives.
• Collaborate with internal partners to define project goals and outcomes.
• Develop compelling narratives integrating community needs and outcomes.
• Manage the full grant development process including budgeting support and submission.
• Coordinate grant proposals, timelines, and information gathering from multiple stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate grant records and reporting schedules in foundation systems.
• Coordinate proposal launches and grant kickoff meetings with internal stakeholders.
• Facilitate proactive grant stewardship and ongoing communication with funders.
