Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Write grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests to foundations, corporations, and others.
  • Manage grant calendar, deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare timely and accurate grant reports and ensure funder compliance and outcomes measurement.
  • Collaborate with program and leadership staff to gather data, narratives, budgets, and outcomes.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with current and prospective foundation partners.
  • Maintain organized grant records and documentation.
  • Monitor grants and funding opportunities to sustain and grow the portfolio.

Job description

The Nehemiah Center is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Grant Writer to join our team on a part-time, hourly basis. This individual will play a critical role in advancing our mission by managing a growing grant portfolio through compelling proposal writing, timely reporting, and stewardship of foundation relationships.

We are looking for someone who not only possesses strong grant writing experience but also has a genuine heart for the mission and ministry of the Nehemiah Center and the children and families we serve. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and passionate about helping secure resources that sustain and expand transformative programming.

Duties
  • Research, identify, and pursue grant opportunities aligned with the Nehemiah Center’s mission and strategic priorities
  • Write compelling, high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests to foundations, corporations, and other grant-making entities
  • Manage and maintain the organization’s grant calendar, including deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements
  • Prepare timely and accurate grant reports, ensuring compliance with funder expectations and outcomes measurement
  • Collaborate with program and leadership staff to gather data, narratives, budgets, and program outcomes for applications and reports
  • Assist in cultivating and stewarding relationships with current and prospective foundation partners
  • Maintain organized grant records and documentation
  • Monitor grant awards, reporting schedules, and funding opportunities to ensure continuity and growth of the grant portfolio
Required Qualifications:
  • Prior grant writing experience is required, preferably in a nonprofit setting
  • Demonstrated success in researching, writing, and securing grant funding
  • Experience preparing grant reports and managing multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent written, editing, and communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in education, youth development, faith-based, or family-serving nonprofits
  • Familiarity with donor databases, grant tracking systems, and outcomes reporting
Position Details
  • Employment Type: Part-Time, Hourly, 30 hours weekly, 9am - 3pm.
  • Location: On-site at the Nehemiah Center
  • Compensation: Hourly rate commensurate with experience
