Job summary

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Research Development Officer to advance strategic funding opportunities and strengthen proposal development services across the College.

This position works closely with faculty, CVM leadership, and research administration partners to identify funding opportunities, develop competitive proposal strategies, and build interdisciplinary research teams that are competitive for new funding streams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field with 3–5 years of experience.
• Strong scientific, medical, or veterinary writing for external proposals.
• Knowledge of the proposal process, sponsors, and deadlines.
• Ability to identify funding opportunities and develop strategies with faculty.
• Demonstrated ability to build multidisciplinary teams and partnerships.
• Proven project management, analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Advance strategic funding initiatives by identifying high‑value opportunities and aligning concepts with CVM priorities.
• Partner with faculty and leadership to develop competitive proposals and coordinate development activities.
• Develop training resources to strengthen proposal development and funding participation.
• Build collaborations across Cornell and external organizations to expand CVM’s funding portfolio.
